Behind the Scenes of Issue 10

What a strange week! It looks like controllers have managed to beat cats and WPM posts. Crazy. SouthPaw's controllers for CircuitPython with Pro Micro footprint, Raspberry Pi Pico and the boards from Adafruit and Sparkfun built on the RP2040 chip. And last but not least, the Puchi C teaser in the DracuLad!

SouthPaw's controllers for CircuitPython with Pro Micro footprint, Raspberry Pi Pico and the boards from Adafruit and Sparkfun built on the RP2040 chip. And last but not least, the Puchi C teaser in the DracuLad!

I could achieve some of my goals in the recent days again.

While there are some really great projects in this issue again, one entry I found particularly interesting was about the hefty German ortho with MX-compatible caps. Hereby I have to confess that I looked it up on eBay and ordered one immediately.

Some updates and features implemented this week:

  • Archive updated with issue 4. (These early issues were published as simple reddit posts and I'll have to insert them manually.)
  • Newsletter updates. Last week was the first time the subscription form was available so I had to prepare the first newletter. New subscription form, creating the template and the first newsletter, banging my head into the wall because of Mailchimp's inconsistencies, testing, etc.
  • The first newsletter has just been sent out to the first 18 subscribers!
  • Updates to the scripts behind the site and the many administrative functions (reddit sub analysis, export, sql import, image processing, etc.).
  • List of authors in the r/mk post whose projects are published on the issue page only (E.g. "This column contains 3 more entries by x, y and z.").

Pending goals:

  • Including issues 1-3 into the archive.
  • Weekly stats.
  • Cover montage/collage weighting and new layouts.
  • New tag system.

Well, these were some tidbits from the editorial room this week.

I'd be grateful for any feedback (r/mk, u/dovenyi)! I hope you enjoyed this issue. See you next week!

Cheers,

dovenyi
